The Association will celebrate the members’ monthly novena of Masses beginning on Sunday, September 6, leading up to the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on Tuesday, September 15.

You are invited to send your intentions for remembrance during these Masses and on the feast day. Your petitions will be placed near Mary’s Altar here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

You may also request a Votive Light to burn as a sign of your spiritual presence throughout the novena.

Please share your prayer requests so that we may present them to the Holy Mother of God on your behalf.

May we always follow Mary’s example of patient surrender amid trial, as she showed great humility, perseverance, and faith in enduring the “Seven Sorrows” for which this feast day is named:

1. 1. Simeon prophesies that a sword would pierce Mary’s own soul (Luke 2:33–35).
   2. Mary and Joseph flee to Egypt to protect Jesus from King Herod (Matthew 2:13–15).
   3. Losing Jesus, who stayed behind in the Temple (Luke 2:41–50).
   4. Meeting Jesus on the Way to Calvary: drawn from Christian tradition.
   5. Standing at the foot of the Cross, watching her Son die (John 19:25–30).
   6. Receiving Jesus’ body when it was taken down from the Cross (John 19:38).
   7. Enduring the loss of Jesus as he lay in the tomb (John 19:40–42).
