Mary’s Promise of Graces: Anniversary of First Apparition to Saint Catherine Labouré
On July 18, we mark the 196th anniversary of Our Blessed Mother’s first appearance to Sister Catherine Labouré at the Daughters of Charity Motherhouse Chapel in Paris. On that night in 1830, Our Lady shared a long, personal conversation with the young novice. Mary spoke of trials to come and added a promise that heaven’s graces would be bestowed upon all who ask for them.
You are invited to share your intentions for remembrance at the Mass celebrated at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal on Saturday, July 18. You may also burn a Votive Light at the Shrine as a tangible sign of your prayer petition or in gratitude for favors already received.
This video highlights a statue on the Shrine grounds commemorating that occasion when Catherine knelt at Mary’s side with complete trust and devotion. You can do the same by asking Our Lady’s intercession for your needs and the needs of those you love.
