Groundskeeper/Maintenance
Job Description
Under the direction of the Grounds Team Leader, the Groundskeeper performs duties relating to gardening, mowing, leaf removal, and snow removal on the Shrine grounds.
DUTIES
- Mows grass using any of the mowers used by the Association.
- Prepares flower beds in spring and fall, plants flowers, shrubs, trees, and weeds flower beds as needed. Waters beds and trees as needed.
- Removes leaves from Shrine grounds during fall and winter.
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots as needed including the Residence. Spreads ice melt and sand outside of normal working hours as needed.
- Prepares, erects, and takes down Christmas light displays on the grounds and in Church.
- Trims shrubs and trees as needed. Removes trees as needed.
- Keeps Shrine grounds neat and free of leaves, debris, and trash. Collects votive light money from the Church and the Grotto.
- Performs maintenance on buildings and equipment as needed.
- Installs all stone engravings.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Reports to the Grounds Team Leader.

Salary Level – “4”
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions. The ability to operate a tractor with a blade and/or a bucket, zero-turn and walk behind mowers, a side by side, and a chain saw is required for the full-time position. Must also be able to use a gasoline powered mower, a string trimmer, a sidewalk edger, and electric hedge trimmer. The ability to change oil, sharpen blades, and perform routine and preventative maintenance on the equipment used when performing this job is also desired.
The groundskeeper must have a valid driver’s license, be able to stand for eight hours and lift up to 60 pounds as needed.
Must work well as a team member and be able to communicate with members of the team and other Association staff and management.
This job may be full or part-time, depending on needs at the time.
