Association of the Miraculous Medal

Planned Giving

What's in a Plan?

In our youth, we tend to be preoccupied with life’s most immediate needs and desires. Children think about their next game or treat.  Teenagers fret over clothes and gadgets. College graduates focus on job placements and making ends meet.

But as we age, our thoughts evolve. We don’t lose sight of the present, we just become more concerned about the future. We start asking questions like: “What will the world be like for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren?”, “Will my faithful example continue to influence the next generation and beyond?”, “How can I ensure that those who come after me possess the same hope and love that Jesus and Mary have given me?”

These are the questions of a mature, adult, faithful heart. Perhaps they’ve been on your mind.

The key to passing on a world full of faith, hope, and love is right here in your membership with the Association of the Miraculous Medal (AMM). Our work of bringing hearts to Jesus through Mary has lasted many generations already, and when members like you keep us in your future plans, we can ensure that it will continue for many generations to come.

If you’re wondering what that means, “to keep us in your plans for the future,” let me explain. Before each of us passes from this earth, there is a basic decision we can make that will have a lasting, positive impact on all those who come after us.

This is the decision to include Our Lady’s Association, and thus Mary’s mission, in our future financial gifts. Professionals who assist in this process tend to use complicated jargon that can intimidate us from acting.  Please don’t let this happen to you. Making a lasting gift to Our Lady’s Association is as easy as 1-2-3, and in the following section, I’ll show you just how easy it really is.

Three Simple Steps

1) Pray About the Decision:

Pray about the decision – The first step in making any decision is to pray for discernment. We can always count on the Holy Spirit, especially when we know Our Lady is interceding for us. As an initial first step, try closing your eyes and praying the words Our Lady gave to Saint Catherine Labouré in 1830, “O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

2) Act On the Decision:

Once you’ve asked for Mary’s help, and you are ready to make her Association part of your future giving, the next step is to select the best way of doing so. The most popular way is by leaving Our Lady’s Association in your will or trust. An estate attorney can very quickly help you name AMM as a beneficiary of any specific asset you wish to leave. While I recommend you do this under the guidance of a trusted financial advisor, the decision is not overly complicated. If you have a life insurance policy, you can add AMM to that policy as a beneficiary for a specific amount. This typically requires a quick phone call to your insurance agent who will help you complete the necessary forms. If you have investments such as annuities, stocks, or bonds, these too can be assigned to AMM as a beneficiary for a specific amount. This is typically done by your financial advisor who can help you complete and sign the required beneficiary forms. No matter which way you choose, you are saying loud and clear that your faith is important to you and Our Lady’s Association is making a difference.

3) Let Us Know What You’ve Done So Far:

Once you’ve completed this step of making AMM a beneficiary of your planned giving, the final step is to simply let us know by phone so we can celebrate your new membership in Mary’s Legacy Society!

Mary’s Legacy Society honors and thanks those members who have named the Association of the Miraculous Medal in their future giving through wills and trusts, stocks, annuities, and life insurance policies. If you are seeking a way to combine your love of Mary with your commitment to philanthropy, then membership in Mary’s Legacy Society is the perfect opportunity. Not only will you help build a strong and lasting Association, but you will also create a perpetual legacy for others to follow.  If you are already a member of Mary’s Legacy Society, thank you and congratulations!
